I'm Katie.  Glad to meet you!

Beat the Brew is a website dedicated to living our best lives.

It's really about positivity and focusing on the good.  My prayer is that my site and videos will motivate, teach, entertain, and encourage you in your daily tasks and relational interactions.  I will show you my authentic life, all of it, in the hopes that you will be inspired to live YOUR best life without condemnation or comparison.

In my posts and videos, you'll meet my husband Rob and my kids, Robbie (20), Lulu (17), and Sam (15).  You will also meet the other members of our household, Karen, Rob's mother, and Tina, my mother.  Yes, they both live with us.  More on that later!  Our house is always open to our friends, so you never know who will drop by. Actually, we do know who will drop by.  Michael Lape.  Did I mention we have a bunch of fur babies as well???

I think my 20 years of experience as wife and mother qualifies me to be a "female elder" and teach you the beautiful things that I have learned (see the Titus verse below).  (As an aside, female elder is just a nice translation of what the text truly says, which is "old women"). I am not a therapist, pastor, organizational guru, enneagram expert, or motivational speaker, but I am an avid reader, learner, and teacher dedicated to developing myself and my relationships as best I can.  And apparently I'm also dedicated to run on sentences.  And parenthetical interjections.  And starting sentences with "and".  Ah well, it's the inner workings of my brain so there you have it.

Titus 2:3-5 (TPT)

3 Likewise with the female elders, lead them into lives free from gossip and drunkenness and to be teachers of beautiful things.  4 This will enable them to teach the younger women to love their husbands, to love their children, and to be self-controlled and pure, taking care of their household and being devoted to their husbands. By doing these things the word of God will not be discredited.

By the way,  Beat the Brew is a literal game that I play with myself each morning.  I leave the cozy warmth of my bedroom (I am NOT a morning person) and come out to my kitchen to make coffee.  Then, as the pot is brewing I try to accomplish as much of my morning routine as possible.  Each day I get to be a contestant on "Beat! The! Brew!"  And yes, I am totally aware of just how cheesy that is.
